Pain sucks. I’m not usually quite so forwardly blunt, but I’m definitely getting better at it. Because being in emotional pain all the time is pure, unsugared misery, I refuse to tip-toe around it.
And when you are living in a state of pain, even if it’s hiding beneath the surface (especially if it’s hiding beneath the surface) what is supposed to be a creative, expansive life becomes tragically desperate at its worst and most un-fun at its best.

Gratitude is the grace that heals the wounds in our souls.
I used to hold onto my pain like a panda bear life floaty, creating a special place in my bosom for all the “woe-is-me’s” and “i-can’t-seem-to-win’s” tattooed on my heart.
Imagine my surprise when I stumbled onto a healthier and more life-affirming way of dealing with the hurt. The good news is that it really has nothing to do with “letting go”. (oh yes! how many times has someone told you that you should just let it go?)
It has everything to do with redirecting your attention so much so that all things good and gracious fill your entire being.
It is truly transformative.
That’s what were talking about today on The Brighter Side. We’ll learn about how dwelling on gratitude is the answer to moving from pain to peace and how to make it a must-do part of your morning routine.
When you start your day with a Rampage of Gratitude and add in the practice of the Better Feeling Thought Technique, you will shed yourself of the old you that used to cling to the precious pain of your unfortunate failures and setbacks. Yes, it’s important to feel your feelings, but weaving these two practices in your every day living will bring a change so dramatic that you’ll find the whole “letting-go” thing takes on a different meaning. The advantage is that you achieve it not by forgetting about your hurt and disappointment, but by refocusing your attention and filling your mind with all that is good and right, all that is grace and love and peace.

to get the Always Brighter Affirmations.
Now, let’s fill this part of the internet with a ginormous Rampage of Gratitude by taking to the comments below and sharing three things that you are grateful for right now!
Then, let’s give each other HIGH FIVES! in our replies.

The three things I am grateful are my very supportive husband, my sewing machine, and a roof over my head.
Yes! What wonderful things to be thankful for. I can say the exact same things. I love to sew, too!
